WATCH: Rohit Sharma struggles in net session as pressure mounts on India captaincy

New Delhi: Rohit Sharma’s performance on the current Australian tour has been disappointing, with the Indian Test captain struggling against incoming deliveries. In the three innings played so far, his highest score has been just 10 runs, leaving his position as captain increasingly uncertain.

Pat Cummins, the Australian captain, has employed various strategies to dismiss Rohit Sharma, and the Indian skipper must find ways to counter him if India hopes to win the Test series from this point. Team India was outclassed in the first three days of the Gabba Test, but much like their previous tour to Australia, they fought back resiliently, pulling off a remarkable comeback to secure a draw.

There was a moment when it seemed like India might secure a victory in the Test match, but rain intervened, leading to a draw. As the next Test at the MCG approaches, Rohit Sharma put in the hard work in the nets, aiming to get some runs on the board. Yet, his difficulties persisted, especially with short-pitched deliveries proving troublesome. After a few challenges, he regained his confidence and played some impressive shots.

Series poised evenly, India favourites to win at MCG:
The challenging venues of this Australian tour are now behind them, and India will now head to the familiar settings of the MCG and SCG, where the team led by Rohit Sharma will feel more at ease. Notably, India has remained unbeaten at the MCG since the 2011-12 series, having won on their last two visits.

The MCG now features drop-in pitches, which tend to benefit Team India, as the conditions are expected to be less bouncy compared to what they encountered at the Gabba and Perth.
