New Delhi: Pakistan lost two quick wickets, Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq, after a solid opening partnership against India in their ICC Champions Trophy match at the Dubai International Stadium. Hardik Pandya claimed the wicket of Babar Azam for 23, while Imam ul Haq was run out for 10 by Axar Patel. Imam had replaced Fakhar Zaman in the playing XI after the latter was ruled out due to injury.
Babar appeared in good touch, playing some crisp shots, but continued his poor form and was caught by KL Rahul. In the following over, Imam attempted a single but was run out after Axar Patel threw a direct hit to the stumps from mid-on. Meanwhile, a reaction from some Pakistani girls to Imam’s run-out has gone viral on social media.

Pakistan will aim to set a strong total on the scoreboard, knowing that India boasts a formidable batting lineup and could comfortably chase down anything below 250 at this venue. This is a crucial match for Pakistan following their 60-run loss to New Zealand in their opening game of the ICC Champions Trophy. A defeat to India would almost certainly end their hopes of reaching the semifinals. Meanwhile, a win for India would bring them closer to securing a spot in the semifinals. India had earlier triumphed over Bangladesh by six wickets. They will face New Zealand in their final group-stage match on March 2.
