New Delhi: Virat Kohli made history and secured his place in the record books during the Champions Trophy match between India and Pakistan in Dubai. He reached a significant milestone when he scored his 15th run in the match, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record that had stood for 19 years. India is chasing a target of 242, and Virat’s contribution will be key to their success. He joined Shubman Gill at the crease after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal in the 5th over. The Indian captain had scored 20 runs off 15 balls before departing.

Virat Kohli creates history:
Virat Kohli made history by becoming the quickest batsman ever to reach 14,000 runs in One-Day Internationals. The right-handed batter achieved this feat in just 287 innings, surpassing the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar had crossed the 14,000-run mark in 350 innings back in 2006. With this achievement, Virat has overtaken the Master Blaster’s record, 19 years after it was set.

Virat Kohli was quickly promoted to the senior ODI team shortly after leading India to victory in the 2008 U19 World Cup. His debut came against Sri Lanka, but it took him a couple of years to solidify his position in the team.

By 2012, he had become a key figure in India’s batting lineup and was named vice-captain. Over time, he emerged as India’s top number 3 batsman, maintaining his status as one of the best players in the world. With over 14,000* runs at an average exceeding 57, he is also the only cricketer to have scored 50 centuries in ODIs.
