If India’s Virat Kohli can do it, we can do it much better. That’s how Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz feels after ‘shoulder bumping’ into Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib in a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 match in Dhaka on Sunay. Kohli had ‘shoulder-barged’ into you Australia opener Sam Konstas in the Boxing Day Test vs Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last month.
Kohli got fined 20 per cent of his match fees and one demerit point added to his record after his fight with Konstas at the MCG. During the 17th match of the BPL 2025 between Sylhet Strikers and Khulna Tigers on Sunday, a heated incident unfolded involving Bangladesh bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz. The altercation occurred during Khulna’s chase of a 183-run target in the second innings.
In the 17th over, Tanzim bowled around the wicket and deceived Nawaz with a slower delivery, leading him to chip the ball towards third man. Zakir Hasan completed an easy catch, dismissing Nawaz for 33 off 18 balls. At that point, Khulna’s score stood at 130/6 in 16.1 overs.
Following Nawaz’s dismissal, Tanzim exchanged words with the departing batter, escalating tensions on the field. The situation intensified as the two players aggressively bumped into each other. Umpires and teammates quickly intervened to separate them and restore order.

As for the match itself, Sylhet Strikers, after being put in to bat, faced early setbacks with openers Rahkeem Cornwall (4 off 5) and George Munsey (2 off 7) departing cheaply, leaving the team struggling at 15/2 in 4.2 overs. However, Rony Talukdar (56 off 44) and Zakir Hasan (75* off 46) stabilized the innings with a crucial 106-run partnership off 62 balls. Late contributions from Aaron Jones (20 off 6) and Ariful Haque (21 not out off 13) propelled Sylhet to 182/5 in their 20 overs.
In response, Khulna Tigers managed 174/9 despite a valiant effort by William Bosisto, who scored 43 off 40 balls. Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Reece Topley, and Ruyel Miyah each claimed two wickets for Sylhet, effectively restricting Khulna. Zakir Hasan’s unbeaten 75 earned him the Player of the Match award, as Sylhet emerged victorious by eight runs.
