South Africa will look to whitewash Sri Lanka in the two-match series and take a big step towards booking their place in the World Test Championships 2025 Final when the two sides face off in the second Test beginning at the St. George’s Park in Gqeberha on Thursday. SA are already 1-0 up in the series after their massive 233-run win in the first Test in Durban.
SA pacer Marco Jansen ran havoc with Sri Lanka bowled out for their lowest total of 42 in the first innings in Durban. The visiting side put up a better show in the second innings but were too far behind in the game by then.
For the hosts, skipper Temba Bavuma was the star with the bat scoring a fifty and a century in the two innings while young Tristan Stubbs also came up with an impressive ton. SA have already announced their playing 11 with pacer Dane Paterson replacing injured Gerald Coetzee while Ryan Rickleton comes in place of injured all-rounder Wiaan Mulder.
The Lankans are also expected to make a change in their playing 11, bringing in pace bowling all-rounder Milan Rathnayake in place of left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya, making it an all-pace bowling attack.
