MEET Parth Rekhade who dismissed Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, created HAVOC in Ranji Trophy semis

New Delhi: The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season has now reached its final stage. The tournament’s semi-final matches are underway, with Vidarbha and Mumbai facing off in a crucial encounter. This knockout match between Vidarbha and Mumbai is being played in Nagpur, and both teams are engaged in an intense battle to secure a spot in the final.

Vidarbha batted first and put up a total of 383 runs on the board. Their bowlers then dominated the game, with Parth Rekhade playing a crucial role in dismantling Mumbai’s batting lineup.

Parth Rekhade’s Magical Over
Mumbai’s top-order crumbled against 25-year-old spinner Parth Rekhade. In the 41st over, Rekhade struck on the very first ball, dismissing Ajinkya Rahane. Then, Suryakumar Yadav walked in but was out for a duck on the third ball of the over. To make matters worse for Mumbai, Shivam Dube also fell on the fifth ball, giving Rekhade his third wicket in the same over. In just five deliveries, Rekhade completely turned the match in Vidarbha’s favor.

Mumbai in Deep Trouble
By the end of Day 2, Mumbai was struggling at 188/7. At the crease, Akash Anand (67*) and Tamush Kotian (5*) were trying to stabilize the innings. Earlier, Shardul Thakur (37) and Siddhesh Lad (35) had made small contributions.

Vidarbha’s Bowling Performance
Apart from Parth Rekhade, fast bowler Yash Thakur also impressed, picking up 2 wickets for 56 runs in 10 overs on Day 2. Additionally, Darshan Nalkande and Harsh Dubey took one wicket each.

Mumbai will need a strong fightback to stay alive in the semi-final.
