IND vs PAK: Mohammed Shami off the field during 2025 Champions Trophy clash, injury scare for India?

New Delhi: India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami has gone off the field after the first over against Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy match 5 at Dubai International Stadium. Mohammed Shami has bowled 5 wides in his first over, which was not a good start for the Men in Blue.

As Jasprit Bumrah is not in Team India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad, Mohammed Shami has a big hand over Team India being the senior bowler in the Rohit Sharma-led side.

It would undoubtedly be a huge setback for India if Shami doesn’t return to bowl soon. He had been in the midst of an excellent spell, causing some trouble for the Pakistan openers in his third over. After he was forced to leave the field, Rohit Sharma brought Hardik Pandya into the bowling attack.

If Shami doesn’t return to bowl, India will have to rely on Pandya as the second pace option, and more importantly, expect him to bowl 10 overs during the match.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat on a sluggish pitch, making a change to their lineup by bringing in Imam-ul-Haq for the injured Fakhar Zaman, who has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy. Meanwhile, India decided to stick with the same lineup that triumphed over Bangladesh.
