Now eight years later, Rohit Sharma’s side have the chance to create history again by winning their second Champions Trophy title and their 2nd ICC tournament in 11 months – after claiming the T20 World Cup 2024 crown last year in June.
India are the only unbeaten side in Champions Trophy 2025 so far – winning all their Group A matches with ease and then trouncing ODI world champions Australia by four wickets in semifinal in Dubai on Tuesday.
The Black Caps, on the other hand, appear to be the next best team in the competition so far – only losing to India in their third league match last Sunday by 44 runs. Mitchell Santner-led side bounced back from that reverse and hammered South Africa by 50 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to book their place in the final on Wednesday.
