New Delhi: British artist Ed Sheeran met with the England Cricket Team on the first night of his tour in India, which took place in Pune on Thursday, January 30. Sheeran is in India for his ‘Mathematics’ tour, which began in Pune, where he captivated his Indian audience with a heartfelt performance.
The singer of ‘Shape of You’ extended an invitation to the England Cricket Team to attend his show while they were in town for the fourth T20I match in the five-match series against India. Ed Sheeran organized a special backstage meeting with the entire England team and their support staff. During this event, he received a jersey signed by the entire squad from England captain Jos Buttler. In exchange, the pop star presented Buttler with a jersey from the Ipswich Town football club.
England cricket posted highlights of their gathering on their X account, describing it as an ‘perfect’ evening for both players and staff.

After catching up backstage, Ed and @josbuttler swapped shirts – with Jos now the proud owner of a signed @IpswichTown top,” wrote England Cricket on their X account.
India is currently ahead in the five-match T20I series with a score of 2-1, as they prepare for the fourth T20I set to take place on Friday, January 31, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The Indian team secured victories in the first two matches played in Kolkata and Chennai, while England staged an impressive comeback by winning the third match in Rajkot.
The England cricket team batted first, scoring 171 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs, with Ben Duckett contributing a notable 51 runs off 28 balls. Indian wrist spinner Varun Chakravarthy excelled, achieving his second five-wicket haul with figures of 5 for 24, as England’s batsmen found it difficult to handle his diverse bowling. In response, India struggled in their innings, frequently losing wickets and finishing at 145 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs.
