New Delhi: The final round of league-stage games in the Ranji Trophy kicks off on Thursday (January 30), with Delhi facing Railways in an Elite Group D encounter. This match has drawn extra attention as it marks the return of Virat Kohli to domestic cricket. Kohli is set to feature in a Ranji Trophy game for Delhi after more than 12 years. His last appearance in the tournament was in November 2012, when he played against Uttar Pradesh.
Kohli will take part in the match under the leadership of 25-year-old Ayush Badoni at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Before the game, the 36-year-old participated in a training session with the Delhi team. Currently, Delhi sits in sixth place on the Ranji Trophy Elite Group D points table, having earned 14 points from six games. Railways, on the other hand, are in fourth place in the standings.
After the match against Railways, Kohli will head to Nagpur to link up with India’s ODI team for their upcoming series against England. The three-match series will begin on February 6. This will be India’s final bilateral series before the Champions Trophy.
