Beth Mooney creates history to become only first Australian to…

New Delhi: Australia batter Beth Mooney made history during the one-off Ashes Test against England Women at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Mooney scored a stunning 106 as Australia posted an impressive total of 438 in reply to England’s 170. This was Mooney’s eighth Test match, and her century was a first in red-ball cricket. By reaching three figures, Mooney became the first Australian woman cricketer to score a century in all three formats of the game.

Beth Mooney now has 3 centuries in ODIs and 2 in T20Is. Her remarkable achievement of scoring a Test century came in just her 8th match, making her the first Australian woman to reach this milestone. Mooney’s first ODI century came against New Zealand in 2017, while her maiden T20I century was scored against England.

Mooney becomes the fourth Australian cricketer to score centuries in all three formats, joining the ranks of Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell, and David Warner, who have all achieved the same feat.

Women Cricketers to Slam Centuries in All Formats

Beth Mooney has joined an elite list as only the fourth woman cricketer to score centuries in all three formats. England’s Heather Knight, Tammy Beaumont, and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt had already achieved this feat. Mooney’s inclusion in this group solidifies her place as one of the top cricketers in women’s cricket history.

Australia Dominates Women’s Ashes

The Australians continued their strong performance in the T20Is, clinching the series with victories in the first three matches, including a 57-run win in the first T20I. With Australia in a commanding position in the ongoing Test match, England faces a daunting task, trailing by 270 runs with over a day of play remaining.
