Former India captain Virat Kohli has been a dominant force in world cricket for over a decade now, but is reportedly preparing for a major life change. Kohli has been struggling for form in the five-match Test series against Australia barring a second-innings century in the first Test at Perth. The Indian batter has had scores of 5, 7, 11 and 3 since his 30th Test century scored at Perth last month.
In an interview to Dainik Jagran newspaper, Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma, shed light on the cricketer’s future plans, both on and off the field. According to Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli, along with his Bollywood star wife Anushka Sharma and their children Vamika and Akaay, are set to permanently relocate to London. “Yes, Virat is planning to move to London. He’ll leave India very soon,” Rajkumar Sharma told Dainik Jagran newspaper.
While the exact reason for this decision wasn’t disclosed, it is believed that privacy concerns played a significant role. The couple appears ready to begin a new chapter in their lives, prioritizing a more private upbringing for their children.
Between his cricket commitments, he frequently visits London to be with his family. Rajkumar Sharma noted that this move would soon become permanent.
When asked about Kohli’s potential retirement from international cricket, Rajkumar Sharma dismissed the idea, emphasizing Kohli’s fitness and passion for the game. “Virat is still super fit, and retirement isn’t on the cards anytime soon,” the former coach of Kohli added.
The coach also expressed optimism about Kohli’s future in cricket, predicting that he could continue playing at the highest level for at least five more years and would likely represent India in the 2027 ODI World Cup. “He’s got so much more to give to the game. I’ve known him since he was a kid, and I can confidently say there’s plenty of cricket left in him,” he added.
Even in Australia, Kohli has been embroiled in an argument with the Australian media at the Melbourne airport, who were trying to film his children without his permission. Kohil reportedly had an altercation with a Channel 9 reporter, while other reporters stood nearby the Indian batter.
He then walked away before turning back and continuing to voice his concerns. “With my kids I need some privacy, you can’t film without asking me,” Kohli reportedly said.

This move to London marks a significant transition for Kohli but does not diminish his legacy as one of India’s greatest cricketers. While some fans might feel disheartened by his relocation, the decision seems aimed at providing a more balanced and private life for his family.
Given the immense attention Kohli and Anushka attract in India, constant paparazzi scrutiny can make it challenging for their children to grow up away from the limelight. Relocating to London may offer the family a chance to lead a quieter, more normal life.
