New Delhi: The lineup for the javelin event at the Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025 was unveiled on Thursday, notably without Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem. Taking his place is Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage, who now joins the group of top-tier international competitors. While seven overseas athletes have been confirmed, the list of Indian participants is still awaited. Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medalist, has already stated he will be part of the competition. Other prominent names include Germany’s Thomas Röhler, who won gold at the Rio Olympics, and Julius Yego, a former world titleholder. The event is set to take place in Bengaluru.
Set to take place on May 24, the Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025 has been granted World Athletics Gold Label recognition. The event is being co-hosted by Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra and JSW Sports, in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of India and World Athletics.

Thomas Röhler (Germany): The 2016 Olympic gold medallist and widely regarded as one of javelin’s all-time legends, Röhler holds an impressive lifetime best of 93.90 meters.
Julius Yego (Kenya): A pioneer for javelin in Africa, Yego clinched the World Championship in 2015 and secured an Olympic silver medal in 2016. His top throw stands at 92.72 meters.
Curtis Thompson (USA): The leading javelin athlete from the United States, Thompson won the Pan American Games in 2023 and regularly competes at a high level on the Diamond League stage. His personal record is 87.76 meters.
Genki Dean (Japan): A prominent name in Asian athletics, Dean secured the bronze medal at the 2023 Asian Games. Ranked among the top 10 globally, he boasts a career-best throw of 84.28 meters.
Luiz Mauricio da Silva (Brazil): A key figure in South American javelin throwing, da Silva has consistently earned medals at the South American Athletics Championships. His furthest recorded throw is 85.91 meters.
