Team India pacer Mohammed Shami made his comeback into international cricketer after a gap of more than a year. Shami had been sidelined with injury since the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia, undergoing an ankle surgery which forced him to miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season as well.
The Bengal and Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer made a return to the Indian side after 466 days in the five-match T20I series against England, which Indians won 4-1. Shami played in the 3rd T20 at Rajkot and the final game in Mumbai on Sunday. In the last match, Shami scalped 3/25 in 2.3 overs as India defeated England by a massive 150 runs.
A day after that Shami’s ex-wife Hasin Jahan and her daughter were brutally trolled on social media. Hasin Jahan posted a video of herself and her daughter celebrating ‘Saraswati Puja’ – a popular festival in West Bengal – on Monday. However, some fans on Instagram criticised Hasin Jahan for celebrating a Hindu festival considering that she is a Muslim.

Shami and his wife Hasin Jahan have been separated since 2018. Since 2023, a Kolkata court mandated Shami to pay Hasin Jahan Rs 1.30 lakh per month in alimony, with Rs 50,000 for personal maintenance and Rs 80,000 for their daughter’s upkeep.

Meanwhile, Shami is now getting ready to take part in the three-match ODI series against England which gets underway in Nagpur on Thursday. The 34-year-old pacer needs 5 wickets to break Australian Mitchell Starc’s record and become the fastest bowler to claim 200 wickets in ODI matches.
Shami has taken 195 wickets in 101 ODI matches at an average of 23.68. Rohit Sharma and Team India will be hoping that Shami can find his form and fitness ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 later this month.
Team India will play all of their Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Dubai, with the all-important India vs Pakistan clash set to take place on February 23.
