New Delhi: The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) is set to begin on March 22 with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The BCCI has not yet made an official announcement regarding the IPL 2025 schedule. However, a report from Cricbuzz indicates that the BCCI has provided the franchises with the dates for important matches.
Last year’s finalists, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will begin their campaign at their home ground, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. They are scheduled to face off against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, March 23. This match, which will take place in the afternoon, will be SRH’s first home game of the season.
Guwahati is set to host its first Indian Premier League matches as the secondary home ground for the Rajasthan Royals. The Royals will compete in two evening games at this location, taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26 and the Chennai Super Kings on March 30.
Hyderabad is set to host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, whereas Qualifier 2 and the championship final will be held in Kolkata.
After the Special General Meeting (SGM) held in Mumbai on January 12, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla announced that IPL 2025 was set to commence on March 23. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revised the schedule, reportedly moving the start date to a Saturday at the request of broadcasters. The complete fixture list is anticipated to be released in the coming days.
