New Delhi: Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) started their pre-tournament preparations in Kolkata with a pooja ceremony on the Eden Gardens pitch on Wednesday. The coaching team, headed by Chandrakant Pandit, along with the players, took part in the ritual before beginning their cricketing sessions at the iconic venue.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Eden Gardens’ pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee conducted the ceremonies as a tribute to cricket, praying for blessings for another prosperous IPL season.

Before the camp began, head coach Pandit stated, “We have already planned our training sessions. A few international players are unavailable because of the Champions Trophy, but we have most of our key players here. It’s a great feeling as we are coming back to our home ground, especially after the season we had last time around, and we would like to continue that momentum. There is a different motivation in the team.”
Eden Gardens, with a seating capacity of over 68,000, continues to be one of the most iconic cricket stadiums and will host all of KKR’s home games for the upcoming season. Trophy Tour in the Yellow Ambassador Taxi
Earlier in the day, KKR celebrated the IPL 2024 championship by taking the trophy on a tour through the City of Joy, wrapping up their Trophy Tour in grand style. The coveted trophy traveled across Kolkata’s most cherished landmarks, riding in a Yellow Ambassador Taxi, customized in KKR’s signature purple and gold hues.
The Ambassador taxi, decorated with the team’s hashtag #AmiKKR and slogan ‘Korbo, Lordo, Jeetbo,’ became a moving tribute to KKR’s third IPL title. Inside, the taxi featured custom purple upholstery with gold highlights, alongside images showcasing its journey over the years.
Earlier in the day, KKR paraded the IPL 2024 championship trophy through the City of Joy, bringing an end to their grand Trophy Tour. The coveted trophy traveled across some of Kolkata’s most iconic landmarks in a Yellow Ambassador Taxi, specially designed in KKR’s distinctive purple and gold theme.
