New Delhi: Afghanistan’s star spinner and MI Cape Town captain, Rashid Khan, has shared that he writes key strategies on his arms to help him remember important details during matches. He got the idea from Netflix’s popular American drama series Prison Break, where the characters often used similar tactics. Inspired by this, Rashid started jotting down notes on his arms to ensure he doesn’t miss any crucial information during a game.
The SA20 2025 final is set to be an exciting clash between Rashid Khan’s MI Cape Town and Aiden Markram’s Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The match will take place on Saturday, February 8, at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
Rashid Khan humorously suggested that if MI Cape Town wins the SA20 2025 title, some of the credit should go to characters like Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows from Prison Break. After his team’s victory in Qualifier 1 on February 4, Rashid spent the following three days binge-watching the series, which inspired him with the idea of taking notes on his arms for better match strategies.
Rashid Khan shared his inspiration from Prison Break, explaining, “The series teaches you how to get out of tough situations under pressure. It gives you ideas for the game, and you have to apply them. As a captain, sometimes you forget things, so I had the idea to write them on my arm to remind myself about the next over,” he said ahead of the SA20 final.
In Prison Break, Michael Scofield’s tattoos contain crucial codes and messages that assist him in his mission—similar to how Rashid Khan is preparing to lead his team to their first-ever title. “I sat in my room and watched Netflix a lot. It’s tough moving from one city to another with different conditions and pitches, and you have to adapt. But that’s where experience comes in. As a professional cricketer, you have to use that experience,” Rashid explained.
With Sunrisers Eastern Cape being the two-time defending champions, Rashid will have a significant challenge ahead in securing the title for MI Cape Town.
