New Delhi: India became the first team to win the Champions Trophy thrice in the tournament history, the Men in Blue secured a stunning victory over New Zealand by four wickets at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. A steady knock of 76 from Rohit Sharma and a vital 48 from Shreyas Iyer guided India to the target of 252. The FIRST time in Indian cricket history, the Men in Blue won 2 back-to-back ICC events.

After losing his 12th consecutive toss, Rohit decided to bowl first, and India’s spinners limited New Zealand to 251/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/45) played key roles with the ball.

India successfully chased down the target of 252 with six balls to spare, thanks to solid knocks from Rohit (76 off 83 balls) and Shreyas Iyer (48 off 62 balls).

For New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell (63 off 101 balls), Michael Bracewell (53* off 40 balls), and Rachin Ravindra (37 off 29 balls) were the top scorers.

During the chase, India encountered some tense moments after losing two wickets while comfortably placed at 183/3 after 38 overs. However, KL Rahul (34* off 33 balls) remained calm to guide his team to victory after a quick 18-run cameo from Hardik Pandya.

India claimed the trophy without losing a match, showcasing their superiority. Their previous victories in the tournament came in 2002 and 2013, making them the only team to have won it three times.
