New Delhi: India is preparing to compete against England in a three-match ODI series. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has revealed the men’s team’s new ODI jersey. This jersey marks a significant departure from the last design, as it prominently incorporates the colors of the Indian flag.
The ODI series between India and England is set to begin at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on Thursday, February 6. The Indian team will debut their new ODI jersey for this series as well as for the forthcoming Champions Trophy in 2025.
The Indian women’s cricket team debuted their new kit during the ODI series against Ireland in January 2025. The BCCI showcased images from a photoshoot featuring players in the new jersey on social media. Notable players such as Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer were present for the shoot, but skipper Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah were not featured.
The Indian cricket team, known as the Men in Blue, is optimistic that their new uniforms will lead to an improvement in their performance. Following their victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, the team has struggled, particularly in Test matches. They experienced a clean sweep against New Zealand at home and delivered an underwhelming performance in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where they secured just one Test win.
The team successfully recovered during the T20I series against England, winning four out of five matches against Jos Buttler’s squad. Additionally, with the return of several key players for the upcoming three-match ODI series, the hosts are optimistic about achieving similar results while refining their preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025.
