New Delhi: Rohit Sharma made a spectacular comeback to form, smashing a brilliant century in the second ODI against England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Rohit looked in full flow, playing a masterful knock of 119 off 90 balls, which included 12 fours and seven sixes. His remarkable performance helped India secure a comfortable four-wicket victory, taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. Despite facing a tough patch in international cricket and doubts over his place in the team, Rohit proved his critics wrong in Cuttack, sending a clear message that he’s far from finished.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, shared her joy over his century with a heartwarming post on Instagram. She celebrated his remarkable performance with a beautiful tribute, expressing her pride and admiration for his achievement.
The century marked Rohit Sharma’s 32nd in ODI cricket, making him the second Indian player with the most centuries, behind Virat Kohli (50) and Sachin Tendulkar (49). Along with this milestone, Rohit broke several significant records during his stunning knock. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries after turning 30. While Tendulkar had scored 35 centuries after his 30th birthday, Rohit now has 36, setting a new benchmark. This was also his 22nd ODI century after the age of 30, the highest by any player, surpassing the previous record held by Sanath Jayasuriya and Tilakratne Dilshan. Additionally, Rohit moved ahead of Chris Gayle in the list of most sixes in ODIs, closing in on Shahid Afridi, the all-time leader with 351 sixes. Rohit now stands at 338 sixes in ODIs.

Rohit Sharma reflected on his fiery knock, sharing that his main goal was to bat as long as possible. “It was good and I really enjoyed being out there, scoring some runs for the team. It was an important game with the series on the line, but I broke it down into pieces, focusing on how I wanted to approach my batting. I wanted to bat as deep as possible, and that was my primary focus. They bowled into the body and kept it on the stumps, and that’s where I prepared my plan to access the gaps,” Rohit said.
