New Delhi: Pakistan is set to host New Zealand and South Africa in a tri-series ahead of the crucial 2025 Champions Trophy. The three teams will compete in a series of matches leading to the final, which is scheduled for February 14. The first game of the tri-series will feature Pakistan and New Zealand, set to take place on Saturday, February 8, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
New Zealand and South Africa will face off in the second game of the tri-series on February 10. Pakistan and South Africa will meet in the third match on February 12. The top two teams will then compete in the final, scheduled for February 14.
Mitchell Santner has been appointed as New Zealand’s full-time white-ball captain, making this series crucial for him ahead of the ICC event. The New Zealand squad features prominent players such as Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Lockie Ferguson, among others.
Mohammad Rizwan will captain the Pakistan team, which includes Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Faheem Ashraf. However, Saim Ayub was left out due to an ankle injury.
This series will also serve as an opportunity for New Zealand and South Africa to familiarize themselves with the conditions in Pakistan ahead of the ICC event. Both teams have each won one ICC event in the past.
