Team India and Kolkata Knight Riders batter Rinku Singh celebrated his engagement to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj by giving his father Khanchandra Singh a very expensive gift. Khanchandra comes from a very modest family in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and used to work in LPG distribution company.
Rinku Singh’s father used to deliver LPG cylinder on his shoulder to different homes. Now, the star India cricketer presented his father with a Kawasaki Ninja bike worth Rs 3.15 lakh. Khanchandra took the bike for a spin around the neighbourhood and the video of the same went viral on social media.

Priya Saroj’s father Tufani Saroj, who is a SP MLA from Kerakat confirmed that the two families held ‘meaningful talks’ about finalizing the wedding of his daughter to the India cricketer.
“No ring ceremony or pre-wedding program has been held so far,” Tufani Saroj told PTI news agency.
“Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed their families’ consent for the relationship. Both families have agreed to this marriage,” he said.
Priya’s father went on to confirm that the dates of the wedding as well as the ring ceremony will be decided after the end of the current Parliament session with the latter being planned to be held in Lucknow.
“It will be ensured that the wedding functions do not affect his cricketing schedule,” Saroj’s father added. The two families had met at Rinku Singh’s new house in Ozone City, Aligarh, and finalised the marriage by exchanging ‘shagun’ and gifts.
Rinku Singh is currently in Kolkata for the brief camp ahead of the India’s five T20I of the five-match series against England starting at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday (January 22). The 27-year-old has represented India in 2 ODIs and 30 T20I matches till date.
In T20 international cricket, Rinku has an average of 46.09 with a strike-rate of 165 with three fifties to his name. Rinku was retained by IPL 2024 champions Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 13 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction last year.
Priya Saroj, a native of Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi, has been an active member of the Samajwadi Party (SP) for several years. In 2024, she was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur district. A former Supreme Court lawyer, Priya first gained public attention while campaigning for her father during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
