New Delhi: While the third Test match was interrupted by rain, alarms went off for Australia when their leading batsman, Travis Head, seemingly struggled during his second innings. He was seen limping briefly while at the batsman’s crease, sparking worries that he might have injured his groin.
Head was noticeably missing from the field while his teammates were out there with India in batting, which has increased injury worries, especially in light of Josh Hazlewood’s situation, who’s presumed to sit out for the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Head denied all the rumors regarding him missing the fourth Test, “It’s been a big couple of weeks and I’m a bit sore, but I’ll be fine.”
After the match, Captain Pat Cummins shared that the player was affected by some stiffness in his quadriceps. However, at the age of 30, he’s expected to brace himself and be fully prepared for the forthcoming Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
Head once again stole the show with a brilliant century in Brisbane, but the persistent rain dampened the spirits, leading the game to a less than exciting draw. Had it not been for Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep’s commendable efforts to stave off a follow-on, India could have been in a tight spot.
In the ongoing BGT, Head tops the charts as the highest run-scorer, amassing an impressive 409 runs. He graciously sheds light on the principle elements behind his striking success.
“I just try to sum up the conditions well. What I’ve done well this series is assess the conditions. Pleased with the tempo I’ve batted with.
“Felt like he was back in his rhythm, and he gives me full freedom and confidence knowing he’s going to be there for a long while. I feel like I am playing the situation in front of me.”
Get ready, as India is scheduled to meet Australia head-on in the spirited Boxing Day Test. The thrilling encounter will kick off on December 20th in the heart of Melbourne.
