BIG achievement for Hardik Pandya, becomes first Indian all-rounder to…

New Delhi: India defeated England by 15 runs in the fourth T20I of the five-match series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune. Hardik Pandya faced significant criticism for his performance in the previous game, notably for his slow batting. However, in the Pune T20I, the prominent all-rounder responded to his detractors with a strong batting display, achieving a distinctive milestone as the first Indian to do so in T20Is.

Hardik Pandya stood out among the batters, making 53 runs off 30 balls, which included 4 fours and 4 sixes. This achievement marks Pandya’s fifth half-century in T20 internationals. The prominent all-rounder has accumulated a total of 1803 runs in this format, along with 94 wickets. He has also become the first Indian cricketer to score over 1500 runs, take more than 50 wickets, and hit 5 fifties in T20 internationals.

He is the fourth player in T20I history to reach this milestone, joining the ranks of Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi, and Sikandar Raza.

Hardik Pandya has amassed 94 wickets in T20 internationals for India. If he secures 6 additional wickets, he will reach the milestone of 100 wickets in this format. This achievement would make him the first Indian player to surpass 1000 runs and 100 wickets in T20Is. He would also be the second player globally to accomplish this, following Shakib Al Hasan.

India batted first and faced a challenging beginning, losing three wickets in the second over. Rinku Singh contributed a steady 32 runs to help stabilize the middle of the innings. Nevertheless, it was Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube who made significant impacts, each scoring 52 runs and reviving India’s chances in the match. The two formed a partnership of 87 runs, leading India to a total of 181 runs for 9 wickets in their first innings.

WATCH: Virat Kohli’s touching gesture for childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma at during DDCA’s special felicitation ceremony

New Delhi: During the felicitation ceremony at Arun Jaitley Stadium following the second day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways on Friday, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli showed his respect by touching the feet of his childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma.

A video shared on social media shows Virat Kohli receiving a shawl and a special memento from DDCA president Rohan Jaitley. This acknowledgment was for Kohli’s achievement of playing 100 Test matches for India, a milestone he accomplished against Sri Lanka in March 2022. Prior to this, Kohli paid tribute to his childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, by touching his feet and embracing him warmly.

Kohli has become the third cricketer from Delhi to participate in 100 or more Test matches for India, following Ishant Sharma, who has played 105, and Virender Sehwag, who played 104. This Ranji Trophy match was Kohli’s first involvement in India’s domestic first-class competition in almost 13 years, with his previous match taking place in November 2012.

Kohli’s comeback was not notable, as he was dismissed for only 6 runs off 15 balls by Railways bowler Himanshu Sangwan. Approximately 5,000 spectators had assembled to see Kohli, enthusiastically chanting “RCB, RCB” and “Kohli, Kohli.” However, as he made his way back to the pavilion, the enthusiasm diminished, leading many fans to exit the stadium.

Prior to this match, Kohli practiced with ex-India coach Sanjay Bangar to address problems in his batting, especially his difficulties with deliveries outside the off-stump that he faced during the tour of Australia.

Even though Kohli was dismissed early, Delhi finished the day on a high note with a score of 334/7, holding a 93-run advantage over Railways. Captain Ayush Badoni delivered an impressive performance, falling just short of a century with a score of 99, while Sumit Mathur stayed not out at 78.
