Union Budget 2025: The best jokes and memes

Every year, as the Finance Minister stands with that iconic budget briefcase – or, more recently, the red cloth that suspiciously resembles a laptop bag from an artisanal market – Twitter transforms into a battleground. Economists, pseudo-economists, WhatsApp University graduates, and that one cousin who did an MBA but now sells artisanal pickles all chime in with their expert takes.

THIS ex-KKR player recalls fight between Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, says THIS

New Delhi: Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Rajat Bhatia recalled the infamous IPL altercation between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. Bhatia shared that while people often forget his cricketing achievements, they remember him for stepping in to prevent the ugly brawl between the two star players during the 2013 IPL. His comments came during Virat Kohli’s return to the Ranji Trophy, where he was playing for Delhi against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Kohli’s exceptional cricketing skills, leadership, and fierce competitiveness have made him a fan favorite. However, his aggressive playing style has occasionally sparked controversy. One of the most notable instances was his on-field altercation with Gautam Gambhir, which drew significant attention and highlighted the intensity of their rivalry.

The incident took place during an IPL 2013 match between Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gautam Gambhir’s Kolkata Knight Riders. A heated argument between the two, who were also India teammates at the time, sparked concerns about the state of their relationship. Rajat Bhatia, playing for KKR, stepped in and mediated between Kohli and Gambhir, defusing the tension. His timely intervention prevented the situation from escalating further and ended up overshadowing the match itself.
“Mujhe sab log iss liye jaante hain ki maine do logon ki fight rukwayi thi, mere cricket ke wajah se nahi,” Bhatia shared during the broadcast. (People mostly remember me for stopping a fight between two players. That seems to have left a bigger impression than my performances).

Bhatia went on to add, “Now, one of them has a stand named after him, and the other has a pavilion (laughs). Every team has its share of small disagreements. Even in Delhi’s Ranji squad, we had them. But it’s important not to hold onto those moments. Today, one is the head coach, and the other plays a pivotal role in the team.”

After a 12-year absence, Virat Kohli made his much-awaited return to the Ranji Trophy, with his last appearance dating back to November 2012. The opening day of the match between Delhi and Railways attracted a large crowd of around 15,000 spectators. Delhi captain Ayush Badoni won the toss and chose to field, a decision that saw Railways bowled out for 241 runs.

However, Kohli’s return didn’t live up to expectations. He could only manage six runs off 15 balls before being dismissed on Day 2. His early exit left the crowd visibly frustrated, with many beginning to leave the stadium. Despite a brief moment of excitement with a well-timed boundary, Kohli’s innings was cut short when he was dismissed by Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwan on the very next delivery. By the close of Day 2, Delhi was at 334/7.

THIS player was offered Rs 13000000 to play just THREE games in Bangladesh Premier League? Wasim Akram reveals truth

New Delhi: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has disclosed the astonishing sum that David Miller was offered to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League. For those unfamiliar, the South African batsman recently played for the Bangladesh team Fortune Barishal in three matches, contributing to their first-ever BPL championship victory.

During the March 12 episode of ‘The Pavilion’ on A Sports, Akram discussed the campaign and shared that South African cricketer David Miller delayed his wedding to participate in the tournament. Miller received a payment of $150,000, equivalent to Rs 1.24 crores, for competing in BPL 2024. According to various media reports, Akram stated, “I just found out today because we were discussing who won the BPL as we were not following because of the PSL. David Miller was offered $150,000 to play three matches. He postponed his wedding”.

The final of the Bangladesh Premier League occurred on March 1, featuring a match between the Comilla Victorians and Fortune Barishal at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. Barishal won the toss and opted to bowl first. During the first innings, Mahidul Islam Akon contributed significantly with 38 runs, helping the Victorians set a total of 154 runs. In the second innings, key performances from Barishal’s captain Tamim Iqbal and Kyle Mayers led their team to victory by six wickets, with David Miller hitting the decisive boundary to clinch the title.

Wasim Akram, the renowned Pakistani bowler, has frequently appeared on the A Sports YouTube channel throughout the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024. Recently, he criticized Abdullah Shafique for his subdued celebration during the 23rd match of the tournament, which featured Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, while on the same program.

The match took place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on March 7. During the game, Shafique contributed to the Qalandars’ efforts as a substitute fielder. He made an impressive catch in the slips off Imad Wasim at 4 runs and celebrated by placing a finger on his lips. However, this gesture was not well-received by a prominent former Pakistani cricketer, who pointed out the important catches that the young player had failed to secure during Pakistan’s Test series against Australia the previous year.

The game occurred at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on March 7. Shafique played a role for the Qalandars as a substitute fielder, notably making a remarkable catch in the slips off Imad Wasim when the score was just 4 runs. He celebrated this achievement by placing a finger to his lips. However, this action drew criticism from a well-known former Pakistani cricketer, who highlighted the significant catches that Shafique had missed during Pakistan’s Test series against Australia the year before.
